Nepal Telecom (NT) has officially extended its international Voice over LTE (VoLTE) roaming services to Denmark and South Korea, marking a significant step in its global connectivity strategy. According to a press release issued by the state-owned provider, the expansion was made possible through new commercial agreements with Telenor in Denmark and SK Telecom in South Korea. This move brings the total number of countries supported by NT’s international VoLTE roaming to eight, including Canada, the United States, Australia, Luxembourg, Israel, and Taiwan.
The service allows Nepal Telecom subscribers to maintain their home SIM cards while traveling, providing seamless access to high-definition (HD) voice calls, SMS, and data services. By utilizing VoLTE technology, travelers can experience superior voice quality and faster call setup times compared to traditional roaming methods. Currently, Nepal Telecom has established contracts with nine different service providers across its supported international destinations to ensure reliable coverage for its users.
To access these features, subscribers must ensure their mobile handsets are VoLTE-compatible and that the feature is enabled. Nepal Telecom has provided a simple activation path for users who have not yet enabled the service: customers can dial *444# on their mobile devices and select the ‘Activate VoLTE’ option. This expansion reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the digital experience for its customers roaming across major international hubs.
