Zain Kuwait has claimed three Speedtest Awards from Ookla, the global standard for network intelligence and connectivity benchmarking, reinforcing its position as Kuwait’s leading mobile operator across key performance categories.
The awards, determined through analysis of hundreds of thousands of consumer-initiated tests across all major networks in Kuwait, recognised Zain’s top performance in three categories. The results are based on Ookla’s Speed Score methodology, which weights download and upload median speeds as the primary consumer-facing performance indicators.
Zain has consistently led Kuwait’s Ookla rankings across multiple award cycles, having previously claimed five awards in a single year for Q3-Q4 2024 — the first operator in Kuwait to do so. The operator first launched commercial 5G services in Kuwait in 2019 and has signalled readiness for a 5.5G transition, having completed a 10 Gbps 5.5G trial with Huawei under supervision from Kuwait’s Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA).
Editor’s Note: Routine Ookla cycle, but Zain’s sustained clean sweep across consecutive award periods is a meaningful competitive data point in a three-operator market. The 5.5G readiness framing keeps this relevant as Kuwait edges toward next-generation network licensing.
