Saudi Arabia Expands Support for Digital Commerce, EdTech and Smart Hajj Innovation Ecosystems

Saudi Arabia is accelerating support for national technology companies and startup ecosystems as part of broader efforts to strengthen digital transformation across commerce, education, and Hajj and Umrah services.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha visited Saudi technology companies Salla and Classera in Jeddah to explore opportunities around digital commerce expansion, smart education solutions, and AI-driven service innovation.

The visits reflect the Kingdom’s continued focus on enabling local technology champions while strengthening digital ecosystems aligned with Vision 2030 economic diversification goals.

Saudi Arabia Expands Focus on Digital Commerce and Smart Education

During his visit to Salla, Alswaha discussed opportunities to strengthen digital commerce capabilities, support enterprise growth, and develop smart digital solutions aimed at improving user experience and accelerating the Kingdom’s digital economy.

Saudi Arabia’s e-commerce ecosystem has witnessed rapid growth in recent years due to increasing internet adoption, digital payments expansion, and strong government support for digital entrepreneurship.

At Classera, the minister reviewed AI-powered education technologies and digital capability-building solutions designed to support future workforce development and innovation-led learning environments.

The visit also included the signing of an agreement between Classera and Zain KSA to deliver integrated smart educational solutions aimed at creating more interactive and digitally enabled learning ecosystems.

Hajj and Umrah Emerging as Major Innovation Platforms

Separately, the Digital Entrepreneurship Council hosted Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah during an event at Dar Al-Hekma University attended by entrepreneurs and investors from the Makkah region.

The discussions focused on leveraging technology, artificial intelligence, and digital platforms to improve pilgrimage experiences and enhance operational efficiency across Hajj and Umrah services.

Saudi Arabia has increasingly positioned Hajj and Umrah operations as strategic environments for smart infrastructure deployment, AI integration, and large-scale digital service innovation.

Entrepreneurs and startups showcased technology solutions developed to support pilgrimage services through the university’s CODE Lab innovation environment.

The council emphasized the importance of enabling startups and investors to capitalize on opportunities within the Hajj and Umrah sectors by developing scalable digital business models and AI-driven service platforms.

Saudi Arabia continues investing heavily in startup ecosystems, cloud infrastructure, AI capabilities, digital entrepreneurship, and smart city technologies to strengthen its broader knowledge economy ambitions.
