Zain Jordan has supported Himmetna Health Association’s latest health and heritage initiative in Petra as its exclusive telecommunications partner, continuing a collaboration that has directed more than JOD 500,000 towards healthcare projects across Jordan since 2019.
The two-day “Our Journey: Health & Heritage” event brought together more than 300 participants from national institutions, the media and Jordan’s content creator community, combining physical activity and health awareness with efforts to promote the country’s cultural and archaeological heritage.
The initiative also highlighted plans to rehabilitate and expand Al Qatraneh Health Center, adding a more tangible healthcare infrastructure component to the campaign.
More than 300 participants join Petra initiative
Held in the Rose City of Petra, the event was designed around Himmetna Health Association’s concept of sustainable health and the role collective action can play in supporting local communities.
Participants took part in activities along the desert road in Petra, connecting physical wellbeing with awareness of Jordan’s heritage.
Zain participated as the event’s exclusive telecommunications partner as part of its longstanding support for the association.
The operator said the partnership forms part of its wider efforts to support Jordan’s healthcare ecosystem and strengthen collaboration between private-sector organisations and civil society.
Al Qatraneh Health Center set for expansion
The event also highlighted Himmetna Health’s project to rehabilitate and expand Al Qatraneh Health Center.
Under the plans, the facility will be transformed into a comprehensive health centre equipped with an emergency and ambulance unit and a medical centre.
The project is intended to strengthen healthcare access for residents of the surrounding area as well as people travelling along the Desert Highway.
Expanding the facility is also expected to improve its capacity to respond to healthcare requirements within the local community.
Partnership dates back to 2019
Zain Jordan has supported Himmetna Health Association since the organisation was launched in 2019.
The partnership began with support for the Samih Darwazah Oncology Center at Al-Bashir Hospital.
Subsequent projects have included support for a therapeutic isolation unit at King Hussein Medical City and funding towards the rehabilitation of Princess Basma Comprehensive Health Center.
Zain has also supported the rehabilitation and development of Jerash Comprehensive Health Center and contributed to the reconstruction and development of Ghor Al-Mazra’a Comprehensive Health Center.
The operator said its cumulative support for Himmetna Health has now exceeded JOD 500,000.
Private sector partnership supports healthcare projects
While the Petra event focused partly on awareness, Zain’s wider relationship with Himmetna Health has centred on healthcare facilities and service capacity.
The Al Qatraneh project continues that approach by targeting physical healthcare infrastructure rather than limiting the partnership to awareness campaigns.
The collaboration also illustrates how telecommunications companies in the region are extending corporate responsibility programmes into sectors such as healthcare and community development.

The technology component of this initiative is limited, but the partnership is relevant to the wider role telecom operators play in national development beyond connectivity.
