New International Data Corridor Launched Between Europe and the Gulf via Iraq

The Iraqi Informatics and Telecommunication Public Company (ITPC) and Kuwait’s Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) have launched a new international data corridor connecting Europe and the Gulf. The project is being carried out in collaboration with Kuwait’s Zajil Telecom.

CITRA highlighted that the new route provides a land-based alternative to the often disrupted maritime routes, offering a faster and more reliable connection. This new cable facilitates quicker and more secure data transmission from Kuwait to Europe through Iraq.

In response to the enhanced service, local telecommunication companies in Kuwait are beginning to adopt this new land route to offer their customers faster connectivity.
