Ericsson has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Arabia’s Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) to explore the development of intent-driven autonomous networks using AI and automation. The partnership, announced during the LEAP 2025 event in Riyadh, focuses on leveraging emerging technologies such as AI-powered cognitive loops, intelligent automation platforms, and orchestration solutions to enhance the efficiency of 5G networks.
The goal of the collaboration is to improve operational performance, service quality, and the overall user experience. Mobily’s Vice President of network implementation, Alaa Nawar, highlighted that these networks would offer speed, scalability, and nearly zero-touch operations, enabling Mobily to better utilize 5G and AI to create robust and adaptable network solutions.
Håkan Cervell, VP and head of Ericsson Saudi Arabia, emphasized the potential of autonomous networks to dynamically adapt to changing requirements without human intervention, significantly boosting efficiency in both service delivery and operations. He added that AI would play a critical role in building an intelligent society and industry, automating and learning to meet evolving demands.
The collaboration between Ericsson and Mobily aims to develop innovative business models and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s network ecosystem, positioning the country at the forefront of digital transformation.
