Algeria Launches Three New Digital Platforms to Drive Innovation and Entrepreneurship

On Tuesday, March 25, Algeria’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, presided over the launch of three new digital platforms at the Centre for Research on Scientific and Technical Information (CERIST) in Algiers. These platforms include a cloud computing system, a drone design and control system, and a business incubator aimed at supporting innovation and entrepreneurship.

Minister Baddari emphasized that these new infrastructures would bolster Algeria’s digital economy and strengthen the country’s digital sovereignty. The cloud computing platform is designed to provide advanced data hosting, high-speed processing services, and ensure optimal security. He also highlighted the importance of the incubator, which plans to host 20 startups by the end of the year, with a goal of reaching 100 new companies annually by 2027.

This initiative is part of a broader digital transformation strategy laid out by the Algerian government. It complements other efforts, such as the introduction of digital platforms for scientific research publication in the medical field and the management of university incubators. The new platforms aim to develop high-performance technological solutions, leveraging advancements in 4G and open-source software like Linux, OpenStack, and Kubernetes.

These initiatives are expected to fuel Algeria’s economic growth by fostering research, entrepreneurship, and job creation. The cloud platform will enable advanced data storage and processing, the drone platform will enhance applications in sectors like agriculture and surveillance, and the incubator will serve as a vital resource for Algerian startups, helping them innovate and expand into both national and international markets.
