In a groundbreaking collaboration, Numidia Valley and Lamina1 have teamed up, supported by the Algerian Ministry of Strategy and Knowledge, to position Algeria as a leading hub for next-generation gaming, sports, and entertainment. This partnership aims to empower local talent, accelerate digital content creation, and enhance Algeria’s presence on the global stage in the evolving tech and entertainment sectors.
The initiative focuses on three key pillars:
- Gaming: Lamina1’s Space will serve as the primary platform for publishing video games developed by local creators supported by government backing. This platform will offer a wide range of features, including AI-powered interactions, token-gated content, co-creation opportunities, and dynamic social engagement. A dedicated grant program will further support local game development and innovation.
- Sports: Collaborating with Algeria’s national football team, Lamina1 and Numidia Valley will launch “The Fennecs” Space—a Web3 and AI-powered platform designed to provide exclusive content and immersive fan experiences. It will debut with a mini-game, aiming to become the go-to digital destination for fans leading up to the 2026 World Cup.
- Education & Entertainment: To foster the next generation of digital creators, a blockchain-based e-learning curriculum will be developed. The program will cater to over 2 million students, with a strong emphasis on women in STEM, and will expand to other nations in the region. The curriculum will equip young minds with skills in content creation and digital innovation.
Noureddine Ouadah, Algeria’s Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, noting Algeria’s role as the third-largest economy in Africa and its responsibility to lead digital innovation on the continent. “We are committed to empowering our youth with the tools and education to shape the future of gaming, sports, and education,” he stated.
This partnership is also aligned with Algeria’s growing prominence as a tech and entrepreneurship leader in Africa. In recent years, the country has hosted the African Startup Conference, attracting over 25,000 participants from 50+ countries. The next edition is set for December 2025. Additionally, Algeria is progressing with Dzair Media City, set to be Africa’s largest media project, further emphasizing its commitment to becoming a digital powerhouse.
Yasmina Kazitani, Co-founder of Numidia Valley, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, emphasizing the vision of positioning Algeria at the forefront of Africa’s digital transformation. “By integrating advanced technologies into gaming, sports, and education, we are nurturing homegrown talent and establishing Algeria as a leader in the continent’s digital revolution,” Kazitani said.
Lamina1, co-founded by renowned technologist Neal Stephenson, creator of the term “metaverse,” is building the infrastructure for a decentralized, creator-led economy in gaming and digital content. With a focus on scalability, interoperability, and sustainability, Lamina1 provides a robust foundation for creators to build, distribute, and monetize their content in a transparent, fair ecosystem.
Geraldine Pamphile, Chief Operations & Business Officer at Lamina1, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “Partnering with the Algerian government and Numidia Valley allows us to support a thriving ecosystem of creators and entrepreneurs shaping the future of immersive digital experiences. We are thrilled to help bring these innovations to life and contribute to Algeria’s vision for the future.”
This transformative partnership marks a pivotal step in Algeria’s digital evolution, reinforcing the country’s commitment to technological excellence, innovation, and global leadership in the digital space.
