Pakistan to Launch Mobile App for At-Home Passport Applications, Enhancing Digital Public Services

Pakistan is preparing to launch a mobile application enabling citizens to apply for passports from the comfort of their homes, announced Mustafa Jamal Qazi, Director General of Passports, in Islamabad. This initiative aims to modernize and expedite passport services by eliminating the need to visit passport offices nationwide.

Qazi credited Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Interior Secretary for improvements in Pakistan’s passport ranking, achieved through the introduction of advanced security features and e-passport facilities. He also confirmed that e-gates will soon be operational at all major airports.

Currently, online passport services are available for overseas Pakistanis via the Passport Asan Fee app, which facilitates instant fee payments. The forthcoming app will enable applicants to complete the entire passport application process digitally from home.

Highlighting operational efficiency, Qazi noted there are zero delays in passport delivery under the enhanced digital system. He reaffirmed the commitment to making passport services smarter and more user-friendly, with ongoing support from the Ministry of Interior to advance digitization efforts and further elevate Pakistan’s global passport ranking.
