The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has reported substantial progress in communication and postal services across Annaba State, following directives issued by Minister Syed Ali Zarouqi during his April 2025 field visit. A recent review highlighted tangible improvements in network coverage, digital skills development, and postal infrastructure.
Fiber Optic Expansion
The Network Asarna program has accelerated the shift from copper to fiber, extending connectivity to new neighborhoods. Fiber optic subscriptions jumped 46%—from 65,454 in April to 95,768 currently. Algeria Telecom teams supported adoption through awareness campaigns and direct community outreach.
Mobile Network Enhancements
Since the minister’s visit, 40 new mobile stations have been installed, with over 120 more planned. Temporary mobile sites were also deployed at popular beaches—such as Janan Albay, Shataibi, Shabi, Sanklo, Sidi Salem, and Ain Ashir—ensuring stronger connectivity for residents and summer tourists.
Digital Skills Development
A new Skills Center has opened to support students, researchers, and start-ups with training in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. The initiative aims to prepare Annaba’s youth with modern digital skills and foster local innovation.
Postal Service Improvements
To improve accessibility, two mobile post offices were introduced in the new city, with another deployed in Arctic Caleetus. Plans are underway for two permanent facilities in Feather Arm and Armani Caleetosa, with preparatory studies completed.
The Ministry emphasized that Annaba’s progress reflects Algeria’s commitment to modernizing communications and postal services while advancing digital inclusion. Officials hailed the state’s achievements as a model for how coordinated ministerial follow-up can accelerate public service delivery nationwide.
