Morocco and Azerbaijan to Boost Cooperation on Digital Labor Market Transformation

Morocco is prioritizing digital labor market collaboration with Azerbaijan as part of its broader strategy to modernize employment systems and build new economic sectors. The announcement came from Younes Sekkouri, Morocco’s Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, during the Executive Council meeting of the Islamic Labour Center in Baku.

Sekkouri outlined plans for 2026–2028, with a strong focus on digitizing labor markets, advancing artificial intelligence, and enhancing workforce readiness. He stressed the need to upgrade youth skills through specialized training programs and emphasized knowledge-sharing among Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries.

Highlighting Morocco’s economic strengths, he pointed to the automotive industry, which aims to export one million vehicles — including electric cars — by year-end, and the aviation sector, which generates over $22 billion in revenue. He noted Azerbaijan’s significant potential in oil and gas, making joint investments and expertise exchange a strategic opportunity.

The minister concluded that closer cooperation will help both nations prepare a new generation of professionals while fostering a flexible, future-ready labor market.
