EDOTCO Bangladesh Installs Nation’s First Fibre-Reinforced Polymer Telecom Tower

EDOTCO Bangladesh, the country’s leading digital infrastructure company, has achieved a major milestone by deploying Bangladesh’s first fibre-reinforced polymer (FRP) telecom tower in Gopalganj. The next-generation tower marks a breakthrough in sustainable telecom infrastructure, offering superior strength, durability, and environmental performance compared to traditional steel structures.

Developed in collaboration with HS Engineering and Technology Ltd, the FRP tower’s innovative design enables faster rollout, lighter construction, and greater resilience in challenging environments. Its high strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance make it ideal for Bangladesh’s coastal, humid, and industrial regions where steel structures often degrade more quickly.

Thanks to its lightweight composition, the tower can be transported and installed within five to six hours using minimal heavy machinery — significantly reducing environmental disruption and accelerating network readiness.

“This FRP tower is more than an infrastructure milestone; it reflects our commitment to a sustainable, future-ready telecom ecosystem,” said Sunil Issac, Country Managing Director of EDOTCO Bangladesh. “By integrating innovative materials and greener deployment methods, we are strengthening Bangladesh’s digital backbone with infrastructure that is efficient, durable, and environmentally responsible.”

The FRP structure offers up to 40% lower maintenance costs over its lifecycle by eliminating the need for repainting and anti-corrosion coatings. It also provides a cleaner, more modern aesthetic than traditional lattice or monopole designs.

This initiative highlights EDOTCO’s focus on resilient, scalable, and sustainable network solutions as data demand continues to surge nationwide. Following the success of this installation, the company plans to expand FRP tower deployments across other parts of Bangladesh where the design can deliver maximum operational efficiency.
