Oman Arab Bank Champions Sustainable Growth Through Innovation and National Talent

Muscat, Oct. 22 — Oman Arab Bank (OAB) has reaffirmed its commitment to driving sustainable growth and innovation while nurturing national talent, aligning its strategy with Oman Vision 2040. The announcement came during a media briefing led by CEO Sulaiman al Harthy at the Bank’s headquarters in Muscat.

Al Harthy highlighted OAB’s ongoing transformation focused on digitalisation, operational excellence, and financial inclusion. He described the period as one of “consolidation and forward momentum,” driven by stronger customer engagement, enhanced efficiency, and a growing suite of innovative financial solutions.

“Our initiatives are not only aimed at achieving sustainable performance but also at empowering our shareholders, customers, employees, and communities,” said Al Harthy. “Progress is built on trust, innovation, and partnership.”

Strengthening Oman’s Digital and Economic Ecosystem

OAB continues to play a vital role in Oman’s national development, enhancing its capital position to fund diversification projects across key industries such as energy, food security, manufacturing, and tourism. The Bank also supports SMEs through its flagship Tumouhi Programme, which offers funding, mentorship, and digital tools to strengthen entrepreneurship and job creation.

Recent innovations include SoftPOS, enabling merchants to accept card payments via smartphones, and new digital banking platforms that deliver seamless and secure customer experiences. The Bank is also participating in the Maal domestic card scheme, developed by the Central Bank of Oman to promote financial sovereignty and a cashless economy.

Investing in People and Leadership

OAB maintains one of the highest Omanisation levels in the banking sector, with nearly full local staffing across all departments. Its Ruwad Al Arabi Leadership Development Programme and other graduate initiatives aim to equip young Omanis with advanced managerial and innovation skills, ensuring a sustainable national talent pipeline.

“People remain at the heart of our growth story,” Al Harthy emphasized. “By developing Omani talent and expanding digital capabilities, we’re building a more inclusive and future-ready banking environment.”

Building a Responsible Future

Beyond banking operations, OAB’s community-driven approach and financing for key national projects demonstrate its commitment to inclusive and responsible growth. The Bank’s strategy—anchored in people, progress, and partnership—positions it as a cornerstone of Oman’s economic resilience and a trusted leader in the region’s financial landscape.
