SYDNEY – Autoleague, one of Australia’s largest automotive retail groups, has enhanced its cybersecurity framework by deploying BeyondTrust’s Privileged Access Management (PAM) and Privileged Remote Access (PRA) solutions to safeguard its extensive IT infrastructure and cross-border operations.
The company, which manages over 60 franchises nationwide and generates approximately $3 billion in annual revenue, relies heavily on its IT systems for stock management, parts inventories, administrative functions, and customer support. A key component of its operations includes a back-office team in Sri Lanka that requires secure access to Australia-based IT resources.
“We needed a way to separate admin logins from daily logins to reduce the likelihood of unauthorised access to the IT platform,” said Ian Melton, Head of Information Technology at Autoleague. “We also recognised that persistent passwords are regarded as a security risk and needed to be removed from use.”
Following a thorough evaluation of available solutions, Autoleague implemented BeyondTrust’s PAM platform in 2022, introducing automatic password rotation and secure credential vaulting to eliminate manual password management. This shift has significantly improved the company’s cybersecurity posture and reduced human error vulnerabilities.
The deployment of BeyondTrust’s PRA has further enhanced security by enabling the Sri Lankan support team to establish secure remote connections to Australian IT systems, even when operating from shared internet environments. The PRA solution also proved essential during acquisitions, allowing secure integration with external company networks while mitigating risks of malware infiltration or data breaches.
“We were looking for a vendor who could address both PAM and PRA requirements, and BeyondTrust’s products are industry-leading in both categories,” Melton added. “The result is that we can confidently support our national franchise network while ensuring operational and data security.”
Through this partnership, Autoleague has reinforced its commitment to cyber resilience and operational continuity, ensuring that its growing digital ecosystem remains secure and efficient across international borders.
