Algeria has launched a national initiative to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities through expanded vocational training programmes, reflecting growing demand for skilled professionals as digital transformation accelerates across the country. The initiative was announced during the National Conference to Strengthen Capabilities in Cybersecurity, organized by the Ministry of Formation and Vocational Education in coordination with the Information Systems Security Agency (ASIS).
The conference brought together government officials, cybersecurity experts, and institutional stakeholders to address the country’s evolving digital security challenges and align workforce development with national cybersecurity priorities. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance national and economic security by developing local expertise capable of protecting critical digital infrastructure.
Officials highlighted the importance of modernizing vocational training systems to meet emerging technology requirements. Updated training programmes will focus on building technical competencies related to monitoring, securing, and managing information systems, ensuring graduates are equipped to enter the workforce with industry-relevant skills. New certificate-based qualification programmes, structured around a competencies-driven approach, will be introduced starting with the current training cycle.
To support this transformation, training institutions will incorporate modern educational tools, including smart classrooms and remote configuration technologies, enabling more flexible and practical learning environments. The initiative also aims to strengthen collaboration between government bodies, training institutions, and technology partners to accelerate knowledge transfer and practical application of cybersecurity skills.
Conference discussions emphasized cybersecurity as a strategic priority for safeguarding Algeria’s digital infrastructure and supporting sustainable economic growth. Workshops focused on identifying national cybersecurity skill requirements, upgrading technical capabilities and configuration software, and promoting partnerships that encourage innovation and technology adoption.
The forum is expected to produce actionable recommendations aimed at strengthening Algeria’s digital sovereignty and establishing a resilient national cybersecurity ecosystem supported by skilled professionals and modern training frameworks.
