Pakistan’s flagship Digital Youth Hub has surpassed 800,000 registered users, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to equip young people with digital skills, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship support in an increasingly technology-driven economy.
The achievement was highlighted during a meeting between Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad, Generation Unlimited CEO Kevin Frey, and UNICEF Pakistan Representative Pernille Ironside, where discussions focused on strengthening youth development, digital inclusion, and workforce readiness initiatives.
The Digital Youth Hub was launched under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme as a centralized platform designed to connect young Pakistanis with training programs, scholarships, job opportunities, mentorship networks, and entrepreneurial resources. The platform serves as a digital gateway to opportunities aimed at improving employability and supporting career development for the country’s growing youth population.
According to government officials, the platform’s rapid growth reflects increasing demand for digital learning and skills development among Pakistan’s youth. With nearly two-thirds of the country’s population under the age of 30, youth empowerment remains a key policy priority as Pakistan seeks to harness its demographic advantage and address labor market challenges.
The discussions also covered broader efforts to strengthen youth-focused policies, including the development of a National Youth Employment Policy and a National Adolescent and Youth Policy, both aimed at expanding economic opportunities and creating a more supportive environment for young people.
Generation Unlimited and UNICEF emphasized the importance of equipping youth with future-ready capabilities, including digital literacy, entrepreneurship skills, and technology-focused competencies that align with evolving workforce requirements. The organizations highlighted the growing role of digital platforms in connecting young people to education, employment, and innovation opportunities.
Pakistan has increasingly focused on digital skills development as part of its wider digital transformation agenda. Government agencies, development organizations, and private-sector stakeholders have launched various initiatives to promote technology education, freelancing, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion to support economic growth and workforce modernization.
The continued expansion of the Digital Youth Hub underscores the growing importance of digital platforms in bridging skills gaps and connecting young people with opportunities in a rapidly evolving labor market.
Editor’s Note
The most important aspect of the Digital Youth Hub’s growth is not the 800,000-user milestone itself, but what it signals about Pakistan’s emerging digital workforce. With one of the world’s youngest populations, Pakistan’s long-term economic competitiveness will depend heavily on its ability to convert demographic potential into productive digital talent. Platforms such as the Digital Youth Hub represent a shift from fragmented youth development programs toward integrated digital ecosystems that connect learning, employment, entrepreneurship, and mentorship. As global demand for digital skills, remote work, freelancing, and AI-related capabilities continues to grow, Pakistan’s ability to scale such initiatives could play a critical role in transforming its youth population into a strategic economic advantage.
