The 27th edition of Cairo ICT, a prominent technology exhibition and conference for the Middle East and Africa, commenced at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo. Organized by Trade Fairs International, the event spans four days and features participation from five Egyptian ministries, over 400 international and local companies, and 200 speakers.
Key discussions at Cairo ICT 2023 include cybersecurity challenges for 2024, resilience against ransomware in financial institutions, and the role of AI in banking security. The event also explores the future of satellite communications, the impact of 5G on smart cities, and other groundbreaking technological topics.
Notably, the event marks the entry of significant projects and investments in the Egyptian market, with Emirati company Khazna and Kuwaiti company Hayat making significant forays into Egypt’s satellite sector. Cairo ICT 2023 is also notable for its expanded international participation, with a strong presence from Chinese companies.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized the potential of the IT sector and the pivotal role of Egyptian youth in its future, particularly in software development for various industries. The event also highlights Egypt’s progress in financial inclusivity and digital payments, with the success of the InstaPay app and the increase in financial inclusion rates.
In parallel with Cairo ICT, the PAFIX exhibition and conference and the Innovation Arena and Forum are being held, showcasing digital payment advancements and technological innovations.
