Morocco is set to roll out 5G mobile technology in November 2025, just before the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). The country aims to provide 5G access to 25% of its population by 2025, expanding to 70% by 2030. The rollout will focus on urban centers, economic zones, and innovation hubs.
The deployment is supported by a partnership between Maroc Telecom and Inwi, which established two joint ventures: FiberCo, tasked with installing fiber optic connections, and TowerCo, responsible for building telecommunications towers. This investment program, worth MAD 4.4 billion ($440 million), aims to optimize costs and accelerate national coverage through shared infrastructure.
5G will enhance various sectors, including transportation, smart homes, agriculture, and public services, boosting Morocco’s economic growth. The strategic timing of the rollout aligns with Morocco’s preparation for the 2025 AFCON and the 2030 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted with Spain and Portugal. The 5G rollout is part of Morocco’s “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, aiming for nationwide coverage and positioning the country as a regional leader in digital innovation.
