Shimanto Bank Introduces Bangla QR Code Service for Seamless Digital Payments

Dhaka — Shimanto Bank has officially launched the Bangla QR Code payment service, marking a new milestone in its efforts to simplify digital transactions for customers. The service allows users to make fast, secure, and cashless payments directly from the CONNECT Internet Banking App.

With the new feature, customers can easily pay for goods and services by scanning any merchant’s Bangla QR code using their smartphone. The initiative supports Bangladesh’s broader move toward a cashless, interoperable digital payment ecosystem, making everyday purchases more convenient.

The launch ceremony was held at Shimanto Bank’s head office and attended by senior officials, including Mohammad Azizul Hoque, Managing Director & CEO (CC); Md. Sahidul Islam, Head of Business; Shahneela Islam Shanil, Head of Brand & Corporate Affairs and IDPD; and Sharif Zahirul Islam, Head of Cards & ADC.

In a press statement, the bank highlighted that this service aligns with its mission to expand digital banking access and empower customers through modern, user-friendly payment solutions.

The Bangla QR system, developed under the guidance of the Bangladesh Bank, enables interoperability among multiple banks and financial institutions, allowing customers to make payments across various merchants using a single unified QR platform.
