SLT-Mobitel launches bundled fibre, mobile and entertainment package in Sri Lanka

SLT-Mobitel has launched SLT-Mobitel Connect, combining fixed fibre broadband, mobile connectivity, voice and television services into a single bundled offering aimed at Sri Lankan households, professionals and customers who need connectivity across both home and mobile environments.

The package brings together unlimited home internet and voice services, mobile data, PeoTV entertainment and additional connectivity benefits, with combined Home and Mobile packages priced at Rs. 10,000 per month.

The launch reflects a broader telecom strategy of combining fixed and mobile services to increase convenience for customers while creating a more integrated household connectivity proposition.

Home package includes unlimited fibre connectivity

The SLT-Mobitel Connect Home offer provides fibre broadband with unlimited data at speeds of up to 100 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream.

Customers also receive 50GB of 4G data, unlimited voice calling and unlimited data usage between midnight and 7 a.m.

Entertainment is integrated into the package through access to more than 90 PeoTV television channels.

The Home package is priced at Rs. 8,500 per month.

SLT-Mobitel is also providing an Optical Network Terminal and Fixed Wireless Access router at installation as one-time equipment provisions.

Combining fibre with an FWA device gives the package an additional wireless connectivity element alongside the primary fixed connection.

Mobile customers receive shared data and voice benefits

The SLT-Mobitel Connect Mobile package is priced at Rs. 1,500 per month and includes 30GB of mobile data, unlimited voice calls and 1,000 SMS messages.

Customers can share data and voice benefits across as many as five additional SIMs at no additional SIM charge under the offer.

This family-sharing structure allows one subscription to support multiple users and extends the service beyond an individual mobile account.

Customers taking both the Home and Mobile components will pay Rs. 10,000 per month.

Fixed and mobile services brought under one proposition

The central proposition behind SLT-Mobitel Connect is the integration of services that customers would traditionally purchase separately.

Fixed broadband addresses high-capacity connectivity inside the home, while the mobile component provides connectivity away from the fixed network.

Voice, television and shared SIM benefits add further services to the bundle.

For families, students and remote workers, the model is intended to simplify connectivity by bringing several communications and entertainment requirements into a single package rather than maintaining multiple standalone subscriptions.

Bundling could strengthen household customer relationships

Converged fixed-mobile packages can also have commercial advantages for telecom operators.

Customers using broadband, mobile, voice and entertainment services from the same provider have more services tied to a single relationship, potentially increasing retention and giving operators opportunities to increase household-level revenue.

For SLT-Mobitel, the structure also allows the operator to combine assets across its fibre, mobile and television businesses rather than competing solely through individual broadband or mobile plans.

The inclusion of shared benefits across up to five SIMs further positions the offer around the household rather than an individual subscriber.

Fibre remains central to Sri Lanka’s higher-capacity connectivity

The package places fibre broadband at the centre of the home connectivity proposition, offering 100/50 Mbps service alongside mobile connectivity.

Demand for reliable fixed broadband has become increasingly important as households use connectivity simultaneously for entertainment, remote work, education and digital services.

By combining fibre with mobile data and an FWA router, SLT-Mobitel is also creating multiple connectivity options within the same commercial package.

The operator describes Connect as its most comprehensive bundled connectivity offering in Sri Lanka, although the source does not provide an independent market comparison to verify that claim.

Why this matters

SLT-Mobitel Connect represents a move towards deeper fixed-mobile convergence in the Sri Lankan telecom market.

Rather than selling fibre, mobile, television and voice services as separate products, SLT-Mobitel is packaging them around the overall connectivity needs of a household.

That model can become increasingly important as telecom operators look beyond standalone mobile subscriptions and compete for a larger share of household digital spending.

The ability to extend mobile benefits across multiple SIMs also gives the offer a family-oriented dimension, potentially allowing SLT-Mobitel to consolidate several individual connections under a single customer relationship.

Editor’s note

The strategic significance of SLT-Mobitel Connect is less about any individual data allowance and more about how the operator is packaging its fixed and mobile infrastructure.

Converged offers work best when they provide customers with a clear financial or practical advantage over buying services separately. The Rs. 10,000 combined price, shared SIM functionality and integration of fibre, mobile and PeoTV give SLT-Mobitel a platform to test that proposition.

The key indicators will be customer uptake, the number of households adding the mobile component to existing fibre subscriptions, retention rates and whether SLT-Mobitel progressively introduces more flexible speed tiers or higher-capacity mobile benefits. Those measures will show whether Connect develops into a core convergence strategy rather than simply another bundled tariff.
