Djezzy Launches Cloud Services to Support Digital Transformation in Algeria

Digital transformation is accelerating across Africa, with telecom operators diversifying their services to meet the growing demands of populations, businesses, and institutions.

Algerian mobile operator Djezzy has entered the cloud services market. The official announcement was made on Monday, February 17, during the opening ceremony of the CTO Forum 2025, which runs until February 19. The company aims to assist businesses and institutions in their digital transformation by offering innovative, reliable, and secure cloud solutions.

“Cloud, a key lever for business competitiveness, is a solution that provides flexible, secure IT resources tailored to the needs of businesses,” Djezzy said in a statement cited by Algeria Presse Service (APS).

Djezzy is positioning itself in a growing market amid digital transformation, as telecom operators seek to diversify their activities beyond traditional mobile services. The Global System for Mobile Communications (GSMA) reports that services beyond core mobile business are becoming increasingly important in the growth strategy of operators in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. A 2023 survey showed that 57% of operators cited public cloud as one of their top three technology priorities for businesses.

According to data portal Statista, the public cloud market in Algeria is projected to generate $1.12 billion in revenue by 2025. The market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.99% from 2025 to 2029, reaching $1.96 billion by 2029. “The Algerian public cloud market is increasingly influenced by government initiatives aimed at accelerating digital transformation and enhancing local data management capabilities,” Statista added.

This initiative could help Djezzy increase its revenue. The company posted a turnover of 112.17 billion dinars ($831.6 million) in 2024, a 10% increase compared to 2023. However, it faces stiff competition in the regional cloud market, particularly from global IT service giants such as Oracle, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services.
