Pakistan is set to receive world-class internet services by 2026 as PTCL has successfully connected the country to the Africa-1 submarine cable. This significant milestone strengthens the nation’s digital and telecommunications infrastructure, enhancing international connectivity.
The Africa-1 submarine cable system, a high-capacity network capable of transmitting vast amounts of data, has been integrated with PTCL’s exchange in Karachi, ensuring faster, more reliable internet access. PTCL has formally joined the Africa-1 Cable System Consortium, a collaboration designed to improve Pakistan’s connectivity to global digital hubs and reinforce its telecommunication infrastructure.
Spanning 10,000 kilometers, the Africa-1 cable system integrates advanced digital technologies and connects Pakistan to key locations such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, France, Kenya, and Djibouti. Officials stated that this initiative aligns with Pakistan’s “Digital Vision 2030,” aiming to enhance internet speed, reliability, and global connectivity for businesses and consumers across the country.
The Africa-1 cable system is expected to become fully operational by early 2026, marking a new era of world-class internet services for Pakistan.
