Oman Accelerates Digital Transformation with Key Initiatives in 2024

Oman is pushing forward with its digital transformation efforts, with plans for 80% of essential government services to be available online by 2025. According to the 2024 Annual Digital Transformation Report, the Government Digital Transformation Programme, ‘Tahawul’, reached 73% completion by November 2024, up from 53% in 2023.

The initiative includes the creation of several digital platforms, including a unified national portal for government services and a mobile app for digital services. These platforms aim to improve accessibility and efficiency for citizens. The report highlights significant advancements in the digital infrastructure, with a 73% increase in data exchanges among government entities.

Oman has also made strides in cybersecurity, with the launch of the National Cybersecurity Center and the National Cyber Research and Training Center to safeguard against digital threats. As part of its ongoing efforts, Oman has received global recognition, including a significant jump in the E-Government Development Index, where it ranks 41st globally.

The blueprint outlines plans for further digital initiatives, including the National Open Data Platform, the Smart Chat Platform for government services, and the Government Digital Innovation Initiative, with ambitious targets for 2025 and beyond. These efforts aim to make Oman a digital hub aligned with the country’s Vision 2040.
