Pakistan’s Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, highlighted the country’s commitment to partnering with Saudi Arabia in areas of digital media production, journalism, and content creation. Speaking at the Saudi Media Forum in Riyadh, he emphasized the importance of digital transformation, financial sustainability, and combating misinformation in the modern media landscape.
Tarar praised Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiatives, which are driving economic growth and prosperity, and expressed his desire to deepen collaboration, particularly in addressing challenges such as fake news and technological advancements like AI and deepfake technology. He called for greater media pluralism and collaboration among media professionals to tackle these emerging issues.
During the forum, Tarar also stressed the need for stricter policies on social media platforms and greater responsibility from content providers to address misinformation. He urged for legal frameworks to mitigate the risks posed by modern media challenges and called for awareness campaigns to educate digital media users about the consequences of harmful content.
