Microsoft Hosts AI Summit in Kuwait to Accelerate National Digital Transformation and Vision 2035 Goals

Kuwait City, October 19, 2025 — Microsoft has hosted its AI Tour in Kuwait, bringing together government leaders, industry pioneers, and technology experts to explore the transformative potential of artificial intelligence in driving Kuwait’s digital transformation and Vision 2035 agenda. The event reaffirmed Microsoft’s commitment to enabling the country’s transition toward a knowledge-based, AI-powered economy through responsible AI innovation, cloud infrastructure, and national skilling programs.

H.E. Omar Saud Al-Omar, Minister of State for Communication Affairs, commended Microsoft’s partnership and support, emphasizing that initiatives like the AI Summit help “accelerate innovation, build local capabilities, and strengthen digital infrastructure in line with our Vision 2035 objectives.”

Held under the theme “Kuwait’s AI Ambition,” the summit featured keynote addresses from H.E. Al-Omar and Alaeddine Karim, Country General Manager of Microsoft Kuwait, alongside Naim Yazbeck, President of Microsoft Middle East and Africa. Discussions centered on Kuwait’s evolving AI ecosystem, cloud readiness, and strategies for building an inclusive, innovation-driven economy.

Microsoft showcased several real-world AI applications transforming key sectors in Kuwait:

  • In tourism, Microsoft is partnering with the Public Authority for Sports to build Kuwait’s first AI-powered national digital tourism hub on Microsoft Azure, integrating more than 80 partners through the AI companion “Rashid.”
  • In government, the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) is leveraging Azure Landing Zone to enable 44 public entities to migrate securely to the cloud, establishing Kuwait’s foundation for AI readiness.
  • In energy, Microsoft and Ghaia.ai developed an Agentic AI system for the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), automating rig scheduling and cutting idle rig time by 50%, advancing autonomous operations in the sector.

The summit concluded with the AI Excellence Awards, honoring both public and private sector organizations for their leadership in AI adoption and innovation. Awardees included:

  • Ministry of Finance – for an AI-powered Electronic Correspondence System improving government efficiency.
  • CAIT – for implementing Secure Azure Landing Zones 44.
  • Kuwait Credit Bank – for deploying AI-based protection systems.
  • Public Authority for Sports – for developing the Hayakum application supporting the Gulf Cup.
  • Supreme Council for Planning and Development – for adopting Microsoft Copilot to streamline workflows.
  • Ministry of Health – for using AI via the Salem Health platform to optimize healthcare delivery.
  • Public Authority for Applied Education and Training and Kuwait Oil Company – for advancing institutional excellence through AI.
  • From the private sector, Kuwait Finance House and National Bank of Kuwait were recognized for advancing AI in digital banking and customer experience.

Alaeddine Karim highlighted that Kuwait is “entering a pivotal stage in its digital transformation journey,” adding that Microsoft aims to empower national talent with the skills and technologies required to lead in an AI-driven future.

The event reinforced Microsoft’s long-term commitment to AI skilling, cloud innovation, and national capacity building, with initiatives like Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft Fabric helping organizations reimagine productivity, creativity, and decision-making through AI.
