Saudi Arabia is set to host the 19th edition of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Riyadh from December 15-19. The event aims to enhance Internet governance and will be held under the theme “Building our Multistakeholder Digital Future,” according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The five-day forum is expected to attract over 10,000 participants from 160 countries, including more than 1,000 international speakers, as reported by Xinhua news agency, quoting SPA.
The IGF, established in 2006, serves as a platform for fostering a common understanding of maximizing digital opportunities while addressing associated risks and challenges. This year’s event will focus on harnessing innovation, balancing risks, advancing human rights and inclusion in the digital age, and improving digital governance for the Internet. The forum will also explore how digital advancements can contribute to peace, development, and sustainability.
