Amid a global surge in AI investments fueled by demands in digital health, future finance, cybersecurity, and public services, businesses are racing to attract specialized talent to keep up with rapid technological advancements and secure their place as pioneers in AI adoption.
Research by Goldman Sachs projects that global investments in AI will hit $200 billion by 2025. Bloomberg also forecasts that by 2032, the market value for generative AI could reach $1.3 trillion. This growth is primarily driven by a broad recognition of AI’s role in boosting productivity and economic expansion. Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of the Abu Dhabi-based AI firm Presight, discussed on the GITEX Tech Waves podcast how AI’s evolution will streamline processes and provide quicker solutions to complex problems, ultimately benefiting society at large.
The event will highlight the AI global economy’s opportunities and challenges, including ethical AI development, quantum computing, large language models, and real-world AI applications in sectors like education, health, and finance. Discussions will also cover the evolving landscape of work and employment influenced by AI technologies.
In response to the global talent crunch, with Deloitte estimating only 22,000 AI specialists worldwide in 2022 and half of AI-related jobs going unfilled, the UAE has taken significant steps to establish itself as a leading AI hub. The UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence aims to position the country as the global AI leader by 2031, with substantial investments in public services, energy, tourism, and education.
Dubai, in particular, is advancing its commitment to becoming the world’s most agile and future-ready city. The Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, part of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, aims to enhance the emirate’s economy by AED100 billion ($27.2 billion) annually and increase productivity by 50% through digital solutions.
