Jazz Launches Pakistan’s First VoLTE Roaming Services in the US in Partnership with AT&T

ISLAMABAD: Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital operator, has made a significant stride in telecommunications by launching Voice over LTE (VoLTE) roaming services in the United States, in collaboration with AT&T. This development marks Jazz as the first Pakistani operator to offer VoLTE roaming services for customers traveling to the US.

The new service comes at a crucial time as AT&T has phased out its 2G and 3G networks, making VoLTE the exclusive option for voice and SMS services for Jazz customers using AT&T’s network in the USA. This advancement ensures that Jazz customers experience superior voice quality and faster call setup times while in the United States.

Khalid Shehzad, Chief Technology Officer at Jazz, expressed his views on this groundbreaking initiative: “At Jazz, we are driven by a commitment to enhance customer experience through continuous innovation. As the first to introduce VoLTE technology in Pakistan, we are now expanding our horizons internationally. Our partnership with AT&T in the USA to launch Pakistan’s first VoLTE roaming service is a testament to our effort in transcending customer experiences beyond geographical boundaries. We are dedicated to ensuring that our customers enjoy crystal-clear HD calling, providing seamless connectivity wherever they travel.”

Echoing this sentiment, Asif Aziz, Chief Business Officer at Jazz, shared, “We are excited to collaborate with AT&T in the USA to bring pioneering VoLTE roaming services to our customers traveling there. This significant achievement reflects our dedication to customer satisfaction and our continuous search for innovative solutions. We anticipate that this partnership will set new industry standards for customer-centric services.”

Jazz has been at the forefront of VoLTE technology, having first launched it in 2019 with Huawei and Nokia, and then extending it across its network in 2021. VoLTE technology transmits voice calls over a 4G LTE data network, rather than the traditional circuit-switched 2G or 3G networks, effectively turning voice into another application running on the LTE data network. This launch not only enhances the customer experience for Jazz users in the US but also positions Jazz as a leader in technological innovation in the Pakistani telecommunications industry.
