Oman Hosts COMEX Global Technology Show to Boost Digital Economy

Muscat – From May 27 to 30, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) of Oman, in collaboration with the Arabian Research Bureau, will host the 33rd COMEX Global Technology Show at the Oman Exhibition and Convention Centre. This event aims to showcase the sultanate’s progress in digital technology and economic development.

H E Dr. Ali bin Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary for Communications and Information Technology at MTCIT, highlighted the exhibition’s role as a pivotal digital investment hub, aligned with the National Digital Economy Programme’s goals.

The show will feature over 100 emerging Omani companies specializing in technical products, solutions, and digital services, supported by various national entities such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, the Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises Development (ASMED), Omantel, ITHCA Group, and the Central Bank of Oman.

Concurrently, MTCIT will conduct the Second Digital Government Forum, providing a platform for sharing best practices in digital transformation and fostering the exchange of digital experiences and modern technologies on regional and global scales.

H E Shidhani described COMEX as a comprehensive platform that not only exhibits the latest electronic services and digital products but also facilitates marketing and investment opportunities, fostering commercial partnerships.

He emphasized ongoing initiatives to bolster the digital economy, including developing legislative frameworks, promoting digital investments, and supporting technological innovation. Highlighting recent strides in foreign investment attraction, he mentioned sectors like data centers, AI, space technology, and semiconductor manufacturing, including the testing of Oman’s first electronic chips, Oman 1 and Oman 2, marking significant progress in Oman’s digital economic ambitions.
