UAE Leads Global Rankings in UN E-Government Survey 2024

The UAE has set a new benchmark in its commitment to digital governance and infrastructure, according to the United Nations E-Government Survey 2024. The Telecommunications & Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) announced that the UAE topped the Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII) with a perfect score of 100%.

Additionally, the UAE has made significant strides in the Human Capital Index (HCI), climbing from 44th to 10th globally and achieving first place in both Asia and the Arab region. This jump highlights the UAE’s dedication to equipping its citizens with the skills needed for a digitally-transformed future.

The survey also revealed that the UAE ranks highly on the E-Government Development Index (EGDI), scoring 95% and advancing two places from the 2022 assessment. The UAE also scored fully in e-government literacy and led the world in the Online Service Index sub-categories of content provisioning and institutional framework.

TDRA’s Chairman, Talal Belhoul Al Falasi, attributed these achievements to the vision and guidance of UAE leaders President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. Al Falasi praised the collective efforts of federal and local entities which have fortified the UAE’s digital and knowledge-based economic structures, emphasizing AI and other transformative technologies.

Eng. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director-General of TDRA, emphasized the UAE’s consistent focus on developing the ICT sector as a developmental cornerstone that drives all other sectors. He expressed pride in the UAE’s global leadership in telecommunications infrastructure, which supports the nation’s vision for smart cities and a digital economy.

Hanan Mansoor Ahli, Director of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre, noted that these rankings reflect the effective digital government enablers and robust telecommunications infrastructure that underpin intergovernmental integration projects, data integration, and the deployment of future technologies, ensuring the UAE’s readiness for a sustainable future.
