Algiers — Algeria’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, met with Shen Li, President of Huawei Northern Africa (covering North, West, and Central Africa), to discuss advancing technology deployment and accelerating the nation’s digital transformation agenda. The meeting, held in Algiers and attended by senior ministry officials and heads of affiliated institutions, focused on strengthening cooperation between Algeria and Huawei to develop a sustainable and competitive digital ecosystem.
According to a statement from the ministry, discussions centered on “accelerating the deployment of technology in Algeria to support its ambition to build an integrated digital ecosystem and establish partnerships with technology companies.” Both parties reaffirmed their shared goal of positioning Algeria as a regional digital hub by investing in infrastructure, local innovation, and technological capacity building.
The talks also emphasized the importance of knowledge transfer and the development of national talent. The ministry noted that one of the key priorities is to enable Algeria to evolve from being a consumer of imported technology to a producer and innovator in its own right. This shift aligns with government policies designed to stimulate investment, support local industry, and encourage technology-driven entrepreneurship.
By collaborating with Huawei — one of the world’s leading providers of ICT solutions — Algeria aims to leverage global expertise to boost connectivity, strengthen cybersecurity frameworks, and foster a new generation of digital professionals capable of leading the country’s next stage of technological growth.
