Walton Wins Digital Bangladesh Award 2018 for Contribution to IT Sector

Walton, the country’s leading electrical, electronics, and home appliances manufacturer, has been honoured with the Digital Bangladesh Award 2018 for its significant role in advancing the nation’s IT sector and supporting the vision of Digital Bangladesh.

The award was presented during Digital Bangladesh Day-2018 at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in Dhaka. Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, who attended as chief guest, handed over the award to Md. Liakat Ali, Executive Director and Computer Project In-Charge of Walton.

Alongside Walton, nine other individuals and organisations were recognised for their contributions to the country’s IT development. They include Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Prime Minister’s Political Adviser HT Imam, ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy, former Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafesh Osman, former Post, Telecommunication and IT Minister Mustafa Jabbar, Awami League Presidium Member Nooh-ul-Alam Lenin, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, and the Cybersecurity and Crime Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

The award highlights Walton’s role as a key driver in Bangladesh’s digital transformation, reflecting the company’s ongoing efforts to innovate and contribute to the nation’s technological advancement.
