Fawry Launches Apple Pay in Egypt in Partnership with Banque Misr

Cairo — Egypt’s leading fintech company Fawry has officially launched Apple Pay in collaboration with Banque Misr, bringing Egyptian customers a faster, safer, and more private way to pay both in-store and online. The service allows users to make secure contactless payments using their iPhone or Apple Watch, eliminating the need for physical cards or cash exchanges.

Apple Pay uses advanced security features, including Face ID, Touch ID, and a one-time dynamic security code for every transaction. The system does not store or share card numbers; instead, it assigns each card a unique Device Account Number stored securely in Apple’s Secure Element chip.

With this launch, Fawry users can make purchases in stores such as grocery chains, pharmacies, restaurants, and taxis, and use Apple Pay for online transactions through iPhone, iPad, or Mac — simplifying payments for e-commerce, food delivery, transport, and more.

Setting up Apple Pay is simple: users open the Wallet app on their iPhone, tap the “+” icon, and add their myfawry yellowcard. Once added, the card can be used instantly across Apple devices. Customers will continue to enjoy all existing rewards and benefits linked to their myfawry card.

Fawry’s partnership with Banque Misr marks a key milestone in expanding Egypt’s digital payment ecosystem. The collaboration aligns with the country’s cashless transformation strategy, providing customers with globally recognized digital payment options while maintaining the highest levels of security and privacy.

Founded in 2008, Fawry serves over 54 million monthly users, processing more than 6 million transactions daily through its network of 36 banks and 400,000 agents nationwide. Its services span electronic bill payments, mobile top-ups, e-ticketing, and corporate digital solutions for SMEs.
