Yango, a leading tech company in Africa, reaffirmed its dedication to the continent’s development at the recent CEO Africa Forum in Kigali. The forum gathered innovators, entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss the future of technology and its impact on African cities.

Since its entry into Africa six years ago, Yango has experienced significant growth, now operating in over 13 countries. The company has become a household name in some regions for its affordable and safe ride-hailing and delivery services. This expansion has solidified Yango’s position as a leader in tech services and ride-hailing in Africa.

Yango’s Chief Business Officer and Head of Africa, Adeniyi Adebayo, participated in the strategic Innovation and Tech panel at the forum. He shared Yango’s vision and highlighted the role of technology in transforming urban transportation in Africa. Adebayo emphasized, “We are thrilled to once again be a part of this community. The prestigious forum provided a platform for Yango to highlight our success, share insights on the future of African mobility, and demonstrate our dedication to sustainable growth, local investment, and commitment to African markets.

“We have increased our investment in the continent, demonstrating our strong commitment to sustained, long-term growth across Africa. With new markets and services launched since the last CEO Africa Forum, we have doubled our number of rides year-on-year.”

Yango first launched its ride-hailing services in Ivory Coast in 2018 and has since expanded to Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, DRC, Ghana, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Republic of Congo, Senegal, Zambia, and Ethiopia. Currently, nearly a million drivers and couriers use the Yango platform as their primary income source. Yango rides more than doubled in 2023 compared to the previous year, with over a quarter billion journeys taken in Africa since its inception.

Yango’s business model focuses on empowering entrepreneurship and supporting local partners’ development across the continent. As of December 2023, more than 1,720 SME partners in Africa have benefited from their partnership with Yango. The company’s strength lies in its technological excellence and the provision of top-notch products and services to local SME partners who run transport, delivery, and financial services businesses.

Yango plans to grow the number of partners by 30% through 2024 and will focus on developing business improvement programs for SME suppliers. Beyond ride-hailing, Yango’s global business portfolio includes services like Maps, Navigator, Yango devices (Yasmina), media services (Play), cloud storage (Photo), fintech (Pay), Education, on-demand item delivery, food delivery, and e-commerce.

The company has also expanded its services with the Yango app, aiming to be a one-stop shop for Africans across the continent. Yango is an international tech company that adapts global technologies for local communities, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge innovations into everyday services.

Yango operates its superapp and ride-hailing services in over 20 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. The multilingual app is available for free on Android and iOS.
