Artificial Intelligence (AI) is projected to create 97 million jobs worldwide, as highlighted in a regional workshop on AI held at the W Hotel in Muscat. Dr. Salim M. Al Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, stated that AI could account for nearly 14% of global income, growing at an annual rate of 33%.

The workshop, held under the auspices of Khamis Al Jabri, Chairman of Oman Vision 2040, aimed to explore the strategic and methodological framework for the Islamic World Artificial Intelligence Charter and brainstorm AI’s future possibilities. Dr. Saeed bin Hamad Al Rubaie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Dr. Kais Hammami, Director of the Center for Foresight and AI of ICESCO, Mohamed Hedi Shili, Director of the Department of Legal Affairs and International Standards of ICESCO, and Dr. Said Salim Ahmed Jaboob, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies, Scientific Research & Innovation at UTAS, delivered speeches. The event will include various panel discussions led by AI experts.
